Somehow we survived the winter and kept ourselves occupied. We were bummed that we never got any sledding in since Mother Nature only sprinkled snow here and there, but not dealing with all the snow (my nemesis, minus sledding) was a bonus too. Here's some stuff we've been up to:
The new year always brings new goals for our joy schoolers. Alexis made the goal to learn her 1,2,3's and is doing great! I made the goal to do an organizing overhaul on our office and I'm doing great too! Go me!! We took a field trip to the fire station to learn about the goals they made to become the heroes they are. We are so super lucky that one of the members of our bishopric is a super awesome fireman. He always gives us the extra special treatment and the kids love seeing someone they know at the fire station. While we were there the firemen had to go on a call for a few minutes. The kids were in awe seeing the truck pull out. We had such a fun time!
On Martin Luther King, Jr. day we took a trip to the aquarium to check out the new otters! It was pretty cool. We always love a trip to the aquarium.....especially Mr. Nick who would go there weekly given the chance! Nick and Kade have both been taking martial arts classes at the rec center. They took karate first and Nick earned his yellow belt and Kade earned his white belt. They had a blast! Then the last little while they've been taking taekwando in the same class. They've had fun practicing their moves together!
Little Alexis is becoming quite the dancing queen! She has loved being in creative dance class and especially loves getting dressed in her fancy tutus! We've had a blast taking in a couple of BYU basketball games with the Coxs and the Tongs! Go cougars!!
On President's Day we met up with Ben (who had to work, boo!) for lunch out at Chubby's and then the kids and I headed to Nickel City for the afternoon. We had a great time!
Skylar and her friends rocked it in the school spelling bee! She made it to the 4th round before missing her word. Way to go Sky!!
Skylar's also been rocking it on the recorder! She has loved learning to play at school. I can't believe it, but little Nicky is almost 8 which means he's heading into Scouts soon! He is soooo excited about it! He was really stoked to get invited to the Blue and Gold banquet and had so much fun designing a cake for the theme, the Great Outdoors. He won for the scariest cake!
Poor little Kade has had strep, not one, not two, but three times since Christmas! Yikes!! Poor kid! Needless to say, he's missed out on some school and some fun. He had to miss the day that his class celebrated Dr. Seuss's birthday and he was super bummed. We always start out the day with green eggs and ham, of course, but I decided to go all out with one of the weirdest dinner combinations we've ever had so that he could still have fun with the day. We had more green eggs and ham (deviled eggs this time), Cat in the Hat bugle hats, Yink's pink ink drink, and red fish, blue fish, tuna fish. It was interesting!
Skylar also got to take some "green eggs and ham" treats for her class celebration. They were yummy! And of course....we've had a lot of dog piles and wrestling matches. These kids don't stay down for long and always keep us busy with something. I sure love my little kiddles!!
