Our Fun Friday the 13th!

Friday was our super fun-filled day. It was even better because Ben took the day off so we got to sleep in late (my favorite!) and have a lazy morning until we headed up north for some fun. We needed to be in downtown SLC to meet up with my family that evening so we decided to make a day of it and spend the rest of the day checking out the sites. We stopped first at City Creek for a few minutes. Then we headed over to the LDS Church History Museum.  Seriously, it's so much fun! Ben had never been before so the kids had a great time showing him all of the things to see and do.

Of course their favorite part is the total hands-on kids section that is all about the Book of Mormon. The coolest thing there is the Latin dancing thing. Our boys were all over that! Alexis even joined in for a bit!

After playing for a really long time we decided we'd walk over to the Conference Center. They offered to take us on a tour, which we figured would be like 20 minutes or something. It was actually more like an hour, but it was cool! The kids were in awe to see the enormous inside of the Conference Center in person, especially since General Conference was just a few weeks ago.

We have wanted to take the kids to see Ben's Uncle Blair's statue of Harold B. Lee for a long time and were glad they finally got the chance to see it. We had heard that Blair had actually been commissioned to sculpt President Monson's bust too but we didn't know it had already been done. It was a fun surprise to see it! Blair does an amazing job!!

We got to go up on the top of the Conference Center which was pretty cool! It was so pretty up there and the views were awesome!! Nick loved the little pyramid skylights up there.

After we were in a hurry to meet my family at the Lion House to celebrate my parent's anniversary so we kind of ran through Temple Square to do so. I wish we'd had a few more minutes to browse and see more of the gorgeous gardens. It was breathtaking!!
50 years ago to the day my parents were married for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake temple. It's a very special place for me. I love to see that temple!!
