Last week was insane! We:
-Continued to eat breakfast & lunch at the school every day. This is so much easier without swimming lessons!
-Headed to a very hot and crowded Trafalga for FHE to try out the new HD Theater Ride. Cool ride, not so cool environment. Trafalga brings back great memories of my Grandma and my youth but I kind of feel like I need a long hot shower after going there.
-Went to see the Last Mimzy at the Scera Movies. I think the person that made that movie was trippin and listening to a lot of Pink Floyd at the time.
-Now that it's finally hot (what happened to the warming up?), played in the yard a bit with the hose.
-Took the kids to story time at the library. Skylar's still doing her craft class. They made tiaras.
-Celebrated our 12th Anniversary! Since we had gone out last weekend, we had big plans of putting the kids to bed early, getting some take out, and watching a movie while snuggling on the couch. Instead, we discovered a flood in our crawlspace from a frozen outdoor pipe, spent the night hauling wet, moldy boxes of our most precious memories (yearbooks, kindergarten pictures, mission stuff, etc.) into our garage, and then beginning the clean-up process of it all. On the bright side, we did get to spend the whole evening together and stayed up "celebrating" until 2 am. But I would have to say it wasn't very romantic!!
Hence, we spent most of the weekend calling in the plumber, the clean-up crew, and the insurance company. After a lot of clean up, we were able to salvage the most important things and the rest is just stuff, all be it sentimental stuff. We still have a ton of work to do!! Could this year get any crazier for us? Yes, I'm sure it can!
-All thought it was crazy, I had promised my kids we'd observe our annual tradition of going to see the hot air balloons with the Tongs. So, with only 3 hours of sleep, I hauled them there. We were disappointed that the balloons didn't actually get to lift off due to the crazy wind or something, but at least we got to keep the tradition of heading to Magleby's Fresh for french toast afterward!!
-Since our house was stinky, we went out to eat later that night with the Tongs at Chilli's. Afterwards we headed over to the end of the Owlz game to see the fireworks that I could have sworn that were on the schedule. Um, I was wrong. The kids had fun rolling down the hill anyway.
-The next night we actually did go to the Owlz game as a family. There were fireworks-in fact, the best I've ever seen! We were so close that we even got a little bit of debris in our eyes!
